About Garland Cottage
Garland Cottage is one in a row of picturesque cottages
alongside the much photographed village pond of Sutton Poyntz. The
cottage is a
short distance from local amenities, with Weymouth and Dorchester
providing excellent shopping, leisure and recreational facilities.
There is a village pub/restaurant nearby.
The oak front door leads directly into the living room of this 18th century cottage. This low ceilinged room features an original brick and stone fireplace with inset gas fired wood burning style stove. The room is furnished with a TV incorporating video and DVD and has a modern CD player with digital radio and two comfortable settees plus an additional easy chair. One of the settees converts into a 4ft sofa bed. The window overlooks the duck pond.
The adjacent attractive kitchen/dining area is well equipped with fitted units incorporating washing machine, microwave, refrigerator, electric oven and hob, toaster and electric kettle, plus all the necessary cutlery, crockery and utensils. There is table which seats 4.
The living room and kitchen/dining area have ceramic slate flooring
throughout.
From the kitchen two steps lead up to a small lobby area with back door and through to a bathroom with toilet, washbasin and bath with electric shower and safety glazed screen. There is a heated towel rail.
Between the living area and kitchen/dining room, stairs lead up to the 2 bedrooms - the main bedroom with its polished wooden floorboards has comfortable 3ft twin beds (which can be pushed together to make a 6ft double), bedside table and lamps, and a pretty pine wardrobe with large drawer. The window overlooks the mill pond.
The compact second bedroom is carpeted and furnished with a 4' bed, drawer units and hanging space. The window overlooks the rear garden.
At the rear of the cottage is a
small courtyard area. Steps shared
with the adjoining cottage lead to a garden with paved terrace
leading to a semipaved and gravelled area with raised flower beds,
garden bench, table and chairs and barbecue.
The cottage has gas fired central heating throughout. Babies are welcome and camping cot, highchair and stair gate are available on request. Linen is included. Towels can be provided at an additional charge. The cottage has no 'phone but mobile reception is good and there is a public phone box in the village.
The cottage is non-smoking but ashtrays are provided for the garden. One well-behaved dog is welcome but we request that dogs remain downstairs, stay off the furniture and are not left unsupervised.
